seminars, and jobsite visits are scheduled across the U.S. to
showcase how the structural steel industry contributes to build
America. Last year’s SteelDay events were held at more
than 170 different locations all over the country and more than
nine out of 10 hosts said they planned to participate again
in 2010.
“SteelDay gives you an appreciation for what
goes into your design – and [the steel industry’s]
efforts to recycle and be environmentally friendly”, commented

Inventory Management Productivity
Now Also for Steel Industry and Other SMBs
Radley Corporation announces new
SMB Inventory
Management Solution |
Grand
Rapids, Michigan, November 15, 2009 — Radley
Corporation announced today the release of Radley
Inventory Management, the latest addition to their
WorkForce Productivity Solution Suite. Radley Inventory
Management enables small- to medium-sized businesses
to gain productivity advantages through Inventory Management
functionality that was previously primarily
obtainable by large manufacturers
and distribution centers with complex and expensive Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) systems or customized enterprise inventory
management software packages. Radley Inventory Management includes
the ability to track partially-used materials (drops/remnants)
and supplies, manage expiration dates, issues, receipts,
cycle counts, ad hoc counts, scrap, physical attributes,
quality data, and provides access to time-stamped historical
data for reports and inquiries. |
A flexible “characteristic
definition” structure and simple user interface when combined
with the ability to track and trace user-defined attributes
offers innovative interoperability through integration and
levels the playing field for small to mid-sized businesses. "Up
until now, the complexity and costs involved with moving
to an automated system of inventory management, have kept
most small and medium businesses locked into using their
manual (spreadsheet/clipboard) inventory tracking systems,
or forced them into low-cost solutions that may not meet
their long-term needs,” noted David Barks, Vice President
of Radley Corporation. “Manual systems can be a real barrier
to successfully competing with larger more sophisticated
global entities, especially in the current economic environment," he
said.

Data Collection and Bar Coding for IFS - Watch
Now
This webcast provides an overview and demonstration
of Radley for use with IFS Applications for Data Collection

In May's edition of the IFS
Radio Network, Radley Corporation Vice President David
Barks points out the pitfalls of stand-alone Warehouse
Management Systems (WMS) technology. He suggests that manufacturers
should instead consider extending their existing enterprise
software into the warehouse. One of these pitfalls is the
fact that even after integrating WMS and an enterprise
application like ERP, a manufacturer still winds up running
two separate inventory systems.
