Vendor Managed Inventory - VMI
Reduce Inventory Fulfillment with Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)
VMI can be configured to allow you to broadcast your current inventory levels using traditional EDI methodologies, or using web-based functionality that is a standard feature of the iSC module. VMI can be automatically updated with inventory information in an unattended, predefined, scheduled environment, using the Scheduler. Inventory data can be updated real-time with data collection functionality for timely visibility. The supplier can view the inventory levels on line, with color-coded alerts, to help identify if there are potential overages or shortages
Using the VMI module, the buyer and supplier work together to establish realistic goals for managing inventories and scheduling shipments. During the initial setup phase, the buyer and supplier agree to acceptable inventory minimum and maximum thresholds for each buyer inventory location. Some of the benefits realized include more efficient production scheduling for the supplier, and better labor scheduling at the receiving dock for the buyer.
