Intermec’s SmartSystems™ Integrated Into Radley Data Collection Software System allows ADC device control from anywhere on the network

Managing mobile devices on a shop floor can be challenging, even for the best manager. Today, it just got easier. Intermec Inc. announced that Radley Corp., an automated data collection software provider, has integrated its X/DC data collection platform capabilities into Intermec SmartSystems™ Foundation. The addition allows X/DC users to discover, configure, backup, monitor and control Intermec data collection devices from anywhere on the network.

Based in Southfield, Mich., Radley is a software development firm focused exclusively on providing cost-effective automated data collection, e-commerce, automotive demand management, and supplier collaboration solutions. Radley is a recognized leader in providing systems that meet the data automation requirements of manufacturers. Its products are integrated with some of the most popular ERP solutions available on the market.

Intermec SmartSystems is a collection of software products and integration tools that make it easier to configure, deploy and monitor ADC systems. SmartSystems Foundation is a PC-based software package that provides the functionality necessary to configure and deploy systems. SmartSystems Extensions is a collection of interfaces that allows Radley’s X/DC to integrate directly into Intermec’s SmartSystems Foundation Console. With SmartSystems, deployment, installation, routine maintenance or application software updates, security adjustments and changes in device settings can be performed automatically and managed remotely across a network, which dramatically reduces field downtime and increases efficiency.

Administrators using SmartSystems-enabled X/DC will experience faster and easier device deployment and device configuration from anywhere on the network – including the warehouse or shop floor. Communication to workers and hardware maintenance are improved with features such as instant messaging to devices and automated version control updates.

“For data collection customers, the Radley and Intermec combination means easy, instant visibility to and control of X/DC and Intermec devices,” said Radley Vice President David Barks. “Intermec’s SmartSystems is a brilliant addition to our X/DC offering.”
